A one quart jar of Spiced Apple Pie Filling, just enough for one pie! I've worked hard to take the humble apple pie to a new level with this filling! Rather than using water or store bought apple juice in the filling, I started with making my own juice by simmering the peels and cores for hours then straining the liquid. (Which is why the filling is so much darker than you usually see!) Then I hand-ground whole spices, instead of just using ground spices from the store, to maximize their flavor. (You should have smelled the kitchen while I was grinding them! Amazing!) Instead of just plain sugar, I did a 50/50 mix with dark brown sugar, because I just love its richer flavor! And the apple slices, of which about 75% are thick and chunky and 25% are thin slices, were pre-blanched to seal in their flavor and texture! It’s my sincere hope that when you dive into this pie, you’ll immediately taste the love I poured into it!
NOTE: We initially considered selling full, frozen, pies (complete with homemade crust), but selling just the filling in shelf-stable jars is more practical. This way we don't have to buy yet another freezer to store a million pies, and you don't have to worry about the pie becoming freezer burned if you don’t cook it in time!If you'd like my personal pie crust recipe, request it in the "Notes To Seller" section and I'll be glad to include it in your box. Otherwise, I recommend the traditional frozen or refrigerated pie crusts (not graham cracker). You'll need two crusts, one for the top and one for the bottom. Cooking instructions will be on the jars.
