One pint of raw, local, honey from hives located in Randolph County, AL, which is where we live as well. The honey is raw and unfiltered, never heat treated or adulterated with anything that didn't come straight from the honey comb! (Although unfiltered, it HAS been strained to remove the larger particles that most people find objectionable.)
A word about "fake honey": We've all seen the headlines---honey isn't always honey. The term "fake honey" refers to honey that's been mixed with other processed sugars, usually corn syrup, to make it go further and "look cleaner". In fact, some experts say that at least 76% of the honey on American shelves is "fake honey". Mixing honey with corn syrup has been going on for ages, but until fairly recently you could pretty much trust that if the label says "pure honey", that's what it was. Unfortunately, China changed things by becoming a mass exporter of honey labeled as "100% pure", when in fact it's highly adulterated. And worse, because China flooded the market with their cheap "pure" honey, American honey producers were hit hard. When market prices dropped, they found themselves unable to produce enough of their own honey to stay afloat. Some large scale producers felt they had no choice but to start buying the ultra-cheap Chinese honey and mixing it with their own product just to keep their business running. Which means ANY jar you pick up might not be as pure as it says it is. But the answer isn't to stop buying honey, because we need MORE honeybees, not fewer! So whenever possible, buy from verified local sources, and pay a fair price.
