ORANGE SPICE APPLESAUCE (1 pint)
1 pint jars of silky smooth homemade Orange Spice Applesauce! With bold, warm, spices, a soft undertone of orange, and only moderate amounts of sugar this applesauce is fit for a simple snack or a fancy dessert! Served warm over vanilla ice cream, you’ll swear you’re indulging in apple pie!
This recipe started with an attempt to make an Apple Cider Syrup. Sadly, I didn’t consider the fact that the syrup still needed to be cooked way down when I added molasses. By the time it had cooked down to the right consistency, that molasses had become so concentrated that it was way too strong. So I jarred it up to try and fix at a later date, but decided to use some of it to sweeten this batch of applesauce. The applesauce still needed something more, however, and a touch of ginger and crystallized ginger proved to be just that something!
