MIXED TURNIPS (1 lbs)

1 pound of organically grown, unwashed, mixed Hikari White and Purple Top Turnips.  In addition to being super low in carbs and packed with vital nutrients, turnips are so much tastier than people realize!  When eaten raw, they taste like a very mild radish with the texture of a dense carrot.  When cooked, they have a mild, smooth, flavor which I find vaguely reminiscent of broccoli (others may disagree).  The mild flavor pairs well with just about anything, and they can be used as a substitute for potatoes in any dish.  We actually enjoy mashed turnips as much or more than mashed potatoes!
